The Endangered Jewel of the World

The Amazon is one of  humanity’s most precious natural heritages. Likewise, an incredible amount of rare flora and fauna inhabit the rainforest. However, the Amazon is under serious threat from human activity. For this reason, it’s extremely important that we do everything possible to conserve the world’s largest rainforest.

Did you know?

🌺 The Amazon Basin covers 40% of South America. The UK and Ireland would fit into it 17 times!

🌺 It is estimated to have 40,000 plant species, 1300 bird species, 3000 types of fish, 430 mammals and 2.5 million different insects.

🌺 The rainforest is home to around 400-500 indigenous tribes. 50 of which are believed to have never had contact with the outside world!

🌺 More than 20% of the world’s oxygen is produced by the Amazon. This is why it is referred to as ‘the lungs of the Earth’.
