Breaking Down Barriers: We stand with the Transgender Community on International Transgender Day of Visibility

International Transgender Day of Visibility (ITDoV) is celebrated annually on March 31st to raise awareness about the discrimination and violence that transgender people face worldwide. This day also aims to celebrate and recognize the contributions of the transgender community to society. The theme for this year’s ITDoV is “The Future is Trans,” highlighting the importance of creating a future where transgender people can live freely without fear of discrimination or violence.

The history of ITDoV dates back to 2009 when Rachel Crandall, a transgender activist from Michigan, proposed the idea of a day to celebrate transgender visibility. Since then, the day has gained global recognition, with individuals and organizations across the world hosting events, talks, and campaigns to raise awareness about the transgender community.

At Andean Travel Company (ATC), we recognize the importance of ITDoV and stand with the LGBTQ+ community. We have several team members who are dedicated to creating unique experiences for our clients, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. We believe that everyone should have the freedom to express themselves, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.

In Ecuador, ITDoV is celebrated with a series of events and talks organized by the LGBTQ+ community and allies. These events aim to promote the visibility and acceptance of transgender people, raise awareness about their rights, and encourage people to take action against discrimination and violence. As an Ecuadorian DMC, we are proud that these events take place and support the larger movement for equality and acceptance.

ITDoV is an essential day that recognizes the contributions of the transgender community and raises awareness about the challenges they face. At ATC, we stand with the LGBTQ+ community in their fight for acceptance and visibility, and we are committed to creating a world where everyone can live freely and without fear. We believe that travel has the power to connect people, promote understanding, and break down barriers, and we are proud to be part of a movement that is working towards a more inclusive and equitable future.

ITDoV is a reminder to celebrate and recognize the contributions of the transgender community, and to work towards a future where everyone is accepted and valued. We hope that this year’s ITDoV theme, “The Future is Trans,” inspires us all to continue the fight for equality and to create a world where everyone can live their lives with dignity and respect.
